University District Annual Street Fair

Did you know that Seattle’s own University Street Fair is the longest running street fair in the US? This year marks the 46th annual and we can’t wait to get out and enjoy the arts, crafts, music and food and this year’s fair.

The street fair is happening this Saturday (10a-7p) and Sunday (10a-6p), and features over 100 vendors and artisans, 2 full days of music and oodles of fair food. The University YMCA will also host a kids’ area where the kiddos can participate in loads of fun activities. The street fair is on University Avenue, from 41st Street to 50th Street.

One of our favorite things to do at the street fair is wander through the trove of handmade treasures. Unique and beautiful oddities are abound, like recycled chopsticks fashioned into functional wares, or jewelry made from reclaimed wood. From handmade jewelry, soaps and hats, to garden art and t-shirts designed by homeless youth, all sorts of goodies are gathered in the bounty of booths that line the Ave.

And of course, no street fair is complete without all the glorious fair food! Mmm, our mouths are watering just thinking about the fresh elephant ears and fire roasted corncobs. Go ahead and indulge! We won’t tell. But don’t forget to floss!

Spread the love
