With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, your Seattle dentist is encouraging taking time to consider some statistics about breast cancer and how you can help in finding a cure. According to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, it’s estimated that during 2012, among American women there will be:
- 226,870 new cases of invasive breast cancer
- 63,300 new cases of situ breast cancer
- 39,510 breast cancer deaths
Studies reveal that maintaining good oral health can help lower the likelihood of developing chronic health issues such as strokes, diabetes, heart disease, and various cancers — including breast cancer. That’s why Dr. Fidler and her team at Fidler on the Tooth encourage taking positive action to ensure that teeth and gums are kept healthy. This involves a diligent routine of regular brushing, cleaning between teeth daily with floss or another interdental cleaner, and professional dental cleanings with thorough check-ups.
In lending her support for breast cancer awareness, Dr. Fidler has a promotion that’s happening the whole month of October, and is encouraging you to take a moment to do your part. Komen Foundation, dedicated to education and research about causes, treatment, and the search for a cure.
